STARTING FRESH…

It’s been a strange year or so in my life, and I’ve decided it’s time to move forward and start something new.  I started dabbling in watercolor a few years ago, but haven’t picked up a brush in a long time.  But I know that I’m somewhat obsessed by watercolor, and am fascinated by the creative element and the challenge of it all.

Like many new watercolorists, there is anxiety and almost a fear of putting that brush to the paper.  I don’t want to mess up, and I don’t want to fail.  But I know that I’ll never grow, and never learn if don’t get back to painting on a regular basis.

So I’m not going to set any crazy goals for myself right now.  I’m just going to document not only my progress, but also my thoughts as I move forward in my life.  I don’t really expect anyone to ever read this blog, I’m kind of doing it for my own sanity and satisfaction.

Watercolor - Lighthouse

The lighthouse painting above is something I did a while back, but I’ve always kind of liked the unfinished look of it.  When I look at other artists works, I like the open or negative spaces in  paintings.  Rather than fill up every corner with color, I want to leave room for imagination.  So I think I’m going to start working on painting more with the negative space.  Hopefully, I’ll have some time this coming weekend to actually get to work on something new.  I’ll be uploading images as I go along so I can track my progress.  Here’s to getting back to something I know I enjoy.  Life does go on.
